Short, honest reads on leadership and growing as a person — the kind you can actually use the same day. No jargon, no ten-dollar words. Just plain talk from the factory floor.
Why we write these
Most leadership writing is built to impress. Ours is built to help. Everything here is meant for a regular person with a regular week — a busy parent, a shift worker, a young person just starting out, a manager who never got trained to manage. If a piece can't be understood by anyone with an eighth-grade education and put to work by Tuesday, it doesn't go up.
We write about the stuff that actually moves a life: leading yourself before you try to lead anybody else, the small daily habits that quietly change everything, and the truth that leadership was never about a title. New pieces get added as we go — think of this as the front porch, not the library. Pull up a chair.
Forty years of fixing equipment taught me one thing about failure that has almost nothing to do with equipment.
Read it →Everybody wants to lead other people. Almost nobody wants to do the quieter, harder job that has to come first.
Read it →Three little words I coach by. They're simple on purpose — the simple ones are the hardest to actually live.
Read it →What you'll find here
We write about the handful of things that actually change how a life goes. Leading yourself first — the private, unglamorous work that has to come before you lead anybody else. Small daily habits — because growth almost never arrives as one big leap; it shows up as one better choice, repeated until it sticks. Character over title — the idea that leadership is something you are long before it's something you're called. And plenty of factory-floor stories, because forty years of fixing machines taught us more about people than any textbook ever did.
New pieces get added as we go, so it's worth checking back — or better yet, come to a free Wednesday workshop and get the live version, then read along here between sessions. Everything on this page is free to read and free to share, no email required. If one of these helps you, do us a favor and pass it to someone who needs it. That's honestly the whole point.
Every Wednesday at 7:00 PM we do 45 free minutes of exactly this kind of growth, together, on Google Meet. Come as you are.
